ok big news
http://www.mille-sabords.com/files/NewFrenchPack.zip
j'attends votre feedback, si on pouvait bosser ensemble ça serait super

Hi,
Sorry for the confusion. The instructions are complicated by the
fact that we have had a translation done previously, but since then
we have changed and added some text. So in order to preserve
the work done before, I made a utility that we use to process all
the files that need to be translated. This program recognizes english
text that did not change since the first translation and, in that case,
uses the original french translation. If the english text changed at bit,
the first french translation is put into the file -- as a reference for the
translator. The intention was to provide a starting point for writing
equivalent french text for the updated english. Sometimes the new
text had no previous translation -- it was added after the first
version.
The "localizer-README.txt" file itemizes the files within the
language pack that need updating. The listed files "localization.txt"
and "commandresponse.txt" represent a large part of what needs
to be translated. The format of these files is as follows:
<TAG> <translated text>
An example line might be...
DEPTH_CHARGE depth charge
The "tag" section must be left untranslated -- this is how we look up
the text. So the translated line should end up looking like...
DEPTH_CHARGE une grenade anti-sous-marine
When you look through the "localization.txt" file, you will see that
most of the lines are already translated (previous version). The lines
that need further translation are marked. Lines that are brand new and
were added since the previous translation are marked with "ADDED".
Lines that changed a little are marked with "CHANGED". The addition
of the "ADDED" or "CHANGED" is the output of the utility program I
mentioned earlier. These tags need to be removed for the final translation
to work correctly. The intention is that you can search through the file
for "ADDED"/"CHANGED" to quickly identify the text that needs
translation, update the text and leave the line in the proper format. So,
if you were to find the new following line in "localization.txt"...
DEPTH_CHARGE ADDED: depth charge
...it should become (remove ADDED & translate english)...
DEPTH_CHARGE une grenade anti-sous-marine
But, if we already had the "DEPTH_CHARGE" line and the english text
changed a bit for some reason. It might look something like...
DEPTH_CHARGE CHANGED: 'depth charge' vs. 'une grenade'
...it should become (remove CHANGED & retranslate english)...
DEPTH_CHARGE une grenade anti-sous-marine
That covers the easy part of the translation. The remainder includes
translation of text within the "campaign" and "mission" files. The tricky
part here is that only some of the lines should be translated, and
the format of the lines needs to be preserved.
For the "campaign" files (files ending in extension .cgn). Only lines
beginning
with the tags P, C, ML, B or NT should be translated. The following files
are already mostly translated and would serve as good examples. The tabs
between the number fields and text are critical. If the format or numerical
content is changed -- the "check" later on will fail. There are several
updated
and added lines within these files. They are tagged again with 'CHANGED'/
'ADDED'. Handle those just as done in localization.txt:
Retail_USA_Surface.cgn
Retail_LFN_Submarine.cgn
Retail_IGN_Surface.cgn
Retail_IGN_Submarine.cgn
These campaign files are new. You'll need to translate these from scratch.
Follow
the lead of the files above as a guide for what should be translated and
which parts
should be preserved:
TrainingPatrols.cgn
CombatPatrols.cgn
RandomPatrols.cgn
For the "mission" files (files ending in extension .ems). Only lines
beginning
with the tags M, MM, T, TM, O, OM, VM, or D should be translated. The
following files are already mostly translated and would serve as good
examples.
The tabs between the number fields and text are critical. If the format or
numerical
content is changed -- the "check" later on will fail. There are several
updated
and added lines within these files. They are tagged again with 'CHANGED'/
'ADDED'. Handle those just as before.

--------
After translating these files there are bound to be some extra spaces,
errors or lines added. Some of these changes may break the format of
the file. So I created a utility in order to check the integrity of the
translated files. The instructions at the top and bottom of the
"localizer-README.txt" file outlines how to set up your environment
to use this utility. It will write to a file a description of what is
incorrect
and where. An iterative process of making changes and running the
"check utilty" program will get us a properly-formatted translation.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Shawn
